Financial Analyst at Alberta Health Services

Your Opportunity:

This Financial Analyst position in Business Advisory Services (BAS) supports the VP Clinical Operations and VP Provincial Clinical Excellence, and CPO Provincial Addiction & Mental Health and Correctional Health Services portfolios. The successful candidate should be a self-starter, demonstrate advanced technical skills in excel (macros, index, conditional list, pivots, lookups, power query), and work well in teams. Job responsibilities include compiling financial information, maintaining back up documentation, analyzing data, and uploading financial information into the Financial Information Reporting Management System. Other duties include journal entries, ad hoc reporting, variance analysis, reconciliation, and various month end, quarter end, and annual financial reporting duties. The position location is flexible, and working hours are from 8:00am to 4:15pm.

Description:

As a Financial Analyst, you will perform routine financial analysis including preparation, analysis and reporting of financial information in accordance with general accounting practices, processes, controls and AHS policies and procedures. Your responsibilities include variance analysis, month end and year end activities, reconciliation of multiple accounts, project support and business support to operating portfolios.

Required Qualifications:Completion of post-secondary diploma specializing in Accounting or related field (e.g. Economics, Statistics).

Additional Required Qualifications:Advanced MS Excel skills. Minimum of two years of accounting or financial experience. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Ability to perform strategically and systematically. Work with minimum supervision. Ability to meet defined deadlines. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of the team.

Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary degree in accounting or related field. Working toward a professional accounting designation. Financial experience in a Health Care environment Strong working knowledge of Oracle & Hyperion applications.
