JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Programmer – Analyst.
Reporting to the Manager, Fuel Handling Maintenance this position is responsible for contributing to Ontario Power Generation by providing metric development and maintenance, data analysis, application development, database development and maintenance, and report preparation to assist sites with performance monitoring and efficiency improvement initiatives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Supply metric development and maintenance, data analysis, application development, database development and maintenance, and report preparation to assist sites with performance monitoring and efficiency improvement initiatives. Provide analysis, utilizing the computer facilities and resources of Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and of external suppliers/vendors (e.g. Microsoft Azure). Refer to Supervisor for discussion and
direction as required where any unusual problems arise. Prepare reports with supporting data, alternatives and recommendations for review, comments and approval of Supervisor and the requester.
• Design, document and implement computer programs and databases to assist with efficiency improvements and data tracking tools for identification of mathematical and data processing problems and needs of the Department.
• Adopt, build, modify and maintain computer programs, including cloud Software as a Service (SAAS) applications (e.g., Power Apps, Power BI, Microsoft Azure, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), and provide a debugging service on applications use
• Assist, advise and train developer staff on effective programming techniques, the effective use of available computer resources, and in the application use and maintenance of their departmental computer programs.
• Interface with site resource staff, and with external suppliers of computer services; cooperate and work with them on the applications in use at their facilities and on the resolution of problems.
• Exercise periodic technical work supervision over others who are assigned from time to time to assist with the work and interdepartmental coordination. Such includes assigning and checking work, and providing advice and instruction.
• Keep up to date on industry developments in computer software and cloud technology deemed useful to the Department.
• Maintain and support existing infrastructure, which provide developers with the tools needed to build software.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (i.e. Computer Science/Software Engineering etc.)
• Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
• Experience with SQL, Microsoft Azure, AngularJS, JavaScript, .NET, C, C++, C#, .NET, PowerBI
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Have a strong interest in a fast-paced, challenging work environment where showing initiative and self motivation are assets.
• Experience within Fuel Handling an asset
• Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning an asset.
• P6Software, NIMs, AS9 and CASSIE experience an asset

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
